ripped off

ok... the other night when i was driving around my car dies. it was the timing belt and coincidently my clutch was burnt. i get AAA to tow it for me and they take it to the nearest garage. after a couple of hours, they call back and through some huge miscommunication problem i dont want to explain, charge me $309 to change the timing belt. Then they also wanted me to pay $700 to get a new clutch put in. is it just me or am i getting ripped off like a mother f*****? about how much should this cost me?

If you didnt authorize them to replace the parts thennnn i think its jacked your made to pay for it. Not even sure what parts prices go for but 700 bills for a clutch is high... that including labor?

I definitely agree. even WITH labor changing a clutch should not cost 700, unless they put an ACT clutch or something. I think timing belt quote is pretty correct. It may be a bit high, but i think timing belt change takes a lot of labor.........

timing belt change from the dealer should be about 180-230 depending where you go. and clutch should be about 200-250 installed for a stock clutch. i have an act stage one clutch with heavy duty pressure plate for 200, and 200 to install.
