Z3 Automatic Noise

When the automatic transmission shifts to what I believe is 3rd gear I hear a scrapping sound (metal to metal) for about 3/4 of a second. From thereon everything seems and sounds normal.

Any ideas?

I am having the same problem when transmission shifts from 1st to 2nd, so I would be interested in any ideas as well
