Air Cleaner

well i got my tires (295/50/15's) and my chrome air cleaner on this weekend. But there is one problem. This is on my 92 camaro 305 TBI. and there is no spot for my air temp sensor. do i just tap a hole in the bottom of the base and make it fit there? for now i have a bypass resistor in there so i will not get a SES light. What did you guys do with TBI?

Re: Air Cleaner

on the base of my open element there was a notch to pop out for the IAT sensor. if I were you i'd just drill a hole the size of the iat and stick it in there.

Re: Air Cleaner

I did the same thing Geno did. If you really don't want to tap a hole in your air cleaner just rig the sensor up away from anything hot near the firewall, it'll work just the same there as it will in the cleaner.

Re: Air Cleaner

if you don't hook it up, it throws a code. So i will just drill ahole and put it in there with some epoxy.

Re: Air Cleaner

It won't throw a code if you hook it up on the firewall, but it's better to just put it in the air cleaner.

Re: Air Cleaner

i am going to put it in the air cleaner. But i was j/w what do you mean put it on the firewall? because right now i have a resistor on the conector and it runs like a bat out of hell. Kinda stumbles alittle when cold like it has a big cam or something but after that she runs good. the air cleaner had a knock out spot but it was for a carbed egr valve or something and was to big. so i will have to drill one.

Re: Air Cleaner

Hook the AIT sensor up just like you were going to put it in the air cleaner, but instead tie it up somewhere away from anything hot. It's really not a very good way to do things and only a temporary solution until you drill a hole in the air cleanner base, but it sounds like you have it under control so don't worry about it.
