At home smoke test?

I recently removed the pipe at the manifold and put a new cat in-no leaks around the pipe anywhere but it seems to be in the engine-instead of paying for one of those smoke tests is there a way to find out where it's leaking from at home with some type of smoke test?
Any replies are much appreciated-
Thanks

Re: At home smoke test?

if its an exhaust leak it should be EASY to find. since you said its not leaking from the new cat check out the manifold.

You can start the engine, apply some form of exhaust restriction such as a wet towel in the tailpipe(s) and trace the hiss ...

Re: At home smoke test?

I know a weird way you can do a at home smoke test.

I cleaned up my engine a while ago with the Sea foam cleaner. (look in autozone/napa or other part places) and you let it sit but I started mine a little soon and it was blowing out so much smoke. We found a couple of my leaks that why(by accident), one I knew about cause you can hear it while driving. but the other side leaked some as well.

Idk if it will work for you, since mine leaked from the manifold, but who knows.
