Thumbs up Hey

Hey, I'm new to the forums. I've done some modeling before but it was mostly just those diecast metal kits you snap together. I started on two Tamiya kits about 6 months ago (2nd gen RX-7 Cabriolet and 3rd gen RX-7 Enfini) but I haven't finished them yet. Actually I broke some parts of the 3rd gen and it made me mad so I didn't finish the second gen yet. I figure I'll finish that before I start on another model. I just got two the other day, a 350Z and an incredibly awesome Opel Astra V8 Coupe (both Tamiya) I also picked up a spray gun from Badger. It was only 25 dollars and I plan on only using it on the body and other large faces on models, thus why I didn't get an airbrush. Is Badger a good brand. I haven't opened the box so I could return it I also ordered 4 kits from Hobby Link Japan. I got two Impreza's (old style 93'-01' I don't like the bug eyed ones as much ) and two 3rd gen RX-7's (yes I am obsessed with rex's ) All 4 kits are made by Fujimi. Does Fujimi make their own paints? Will the instructions tell me exactly which colors to use like the Tamiya instructions do? I can't wait to get started. Actually I can't wait to see how that Opel turns out, but I think I'll wait to do that one for a while because if I mess it up I will probably have a nervous breakdown I guess that is enough questions for one post. Thanks in advance for all your answers and help.

P.S. Allright, I lied, one more question; There is a pre-built kit from Kyosho that I want. It is a 3rd gen RX-7 with a metal body, opening doors, hood, trunk etc. and I think it costs around 50 dollars. Does anyone know where I can find one? Once again, thanks in advance.

Welcome to AF, Fujimi don't make their own paints but they do instruct which colours to paint parts in the instructions. IMO Fujimi aren't that great at all, they don't have much detail, you can't build the engines in any of them (most of actually) and over here in Oz I can pick up 1 Tamiya or 2 Revells and save $10 off a 1 Fujimi kit. I can't help you with the Die cast question though sorry.

I didn't know Fujimi kits weren't that good. I guess I'll find out when I get them. It just seemed like they had more of the cars that I wanted than the other brands. It doesn't seem like that many models let you build the engines, which disapoints me. Thanks guys.

Welcome to AF!

Fuijmi is generally accepted around here as an 80% solution to everything. They will build up into nice cars, but they take just a bit of work... Don't worry, we'll answer all the questions you'll have...

You can call Tamiya at 1-800-TAMIYA-A and ask them if they can get you replacement parts for your FD RX-7...

Thanks Jay, I didn't think I'd get to finish it without buying another kit.
