Problem with pulling to the right

Dont know if anyone will be able to help me but I have a '97 Metro 2 door 5 speed with the 3 cylinder. Over the last couple of weeks I have developed a bad pull to the right. When you let go of the steering wheel the car will just veer right of the road. Things I have checked: pressure in all tires is correct, brakes and calipers have all been replaced, had the alignment checked and they said it was right on, common problem of rusted out unibody I have checked. It is rusted but not to the point of being rusted completely through to where it might break, so I dont think this could be the problem. Can anyone think of something else I could check? It is driveable but just really annoying. This is my everyday commuter to work so I would like to get down to the problem. Any suggestions would be great. Sorry for the long post.

Re: Problem with pulling to the right

Grab the wheels and push and pull them in all directions. Check them for any looseness or excessive play. I currently have a clamp bolt on the bottom of a rear strut that turned out to be stripped. The car bounces back and forth in the ruts in the road because the wheel is not held firmly in place. Check the tires for uneven wear and rotate them and see if you get any change in the problem.

Re: Problem with pulling to the right

You may want to check that the wheels spin freely. A stuck caliper can cause the car to pull to one side - as the brakes for that side are always on.

cheers,

Re: Problem with pulling to the right

Thanks for the replies. I have replaced both calipers with new. I have not checked anything on the rear of the vehicle for anything loose. I will get under there tomorrow and see if I see anything. I have rotated the tires and there is no change. When I am driving down the road and go over a rough road or bumps it sounds like there is something rattling or loose but have had the car up on jack stands and cannot get anything to make the same sound by grabbing stuff under there. Everything seems tight. Just wish something would break so I would know for sure what the problem is. Let me know if you can come up with anything else.
