96 cirrus

tried to cut off while it was on defrost now it will turn over but won't start, the belts are not turning. is this a compressor problem or crank pulley, HELP?

Don't know much about chrysler's but I have worked on GM products that the AC compressor has locked up and cause problems like this . The ac kicks on when defroster is turned on . I'd remove the belt and try to start it then . Hope that helps?

Yep. sounds like the ac compressor locked up on you. Have someone crank it while you're watching the compressor pulley,if the pully isn't turning, just cut the belt that runs the ac compressor,that should free the engine to crank fast enough to start

Yeah I'm sure it is the AC compressor, Happened to me last week on my 95 Cirrus, found a used compressor at a junkyard and paid $40 for it, easy fix..took a few hours, have to get in and get out some hard to get bolts, cussed the car alot, but other then that it was easy
