Re: Drag times 11/18/06

those 1/8th mile times dont make any sence... running a 14.9 1/4 should be well into the 9's in the 1/8th mile.

my stock Grand Prix GTP did 9.6's in the 1/8th mile and road tests show 15.1s in the 1/4

Re: Drag times 11/18/06

Beats me, I was running 15" inch alloys on my first two runs then switched to my 17"s on the final run if that makes any difference. I'll look for my time slips in my buddys suv

Re: Drag times 11/18/06

Thanks!, The first two runs I launched at 2500-2800 with my shitty 15" federal tires lol last run I launched at 3200 with 17" michelin pilot sport tires. Sorry I forgot to add that I have a welded diff. it's been on the car for 3 months with no problems so far

Re: Drag times 11/18/06

does changing your tires effect your time. after i put my sr20 in, i was hitting 14.2 with everything stock except the rsr 3'' exhaust. that was also with my 15'' stock rims. some time this week im gonna go look for some 17, 18'' rims cause im gonna need them for the brake upgrade. anyways, just curious if that would help my time.

Re: Drag times 11/18/06

don't go with 18s if you're gonna drag.. i'd say no bigger than 17 and no smaller than 16.. race slicks will obviously give you the best traction but its not really worth it till you're pushing some serious power.. go with some summer tires like toyo fz4 or whatever they are.. or some summer performance kumhos or something.. they're all gonna be relatively the same at this point..

as for the brake upgrade, i have the stock 7 spoke rims all around with z32 brakes up front (26mm) and all i needed was a 10mm spacer.. so you don't need to buy massive rims to fit even the 30mm.. i'm sure you'd be fine with most 16s and 17s..

I've been hearing that the smaller your rim the more rpm you need to cover the same distance you traveled with a bigger rim.. 17 seems to be the magic number. I guess it does help, I got a higher trap speed with the 17's, try it out. 18's in my opinion are just overkill performance wise.. they look nice tho don't get me wrong

Surprisingly it really isn't bad at all lol, all the hype about welded diffs. made me think about doing it.. I had a spare so what the hell. 4x4's with welded diffs chirp much more during turning for some reason (chirp chirp chirp chirp), mine seems to chirp when I take a hard U turn at half or more throttle (short quick chirp). I got used to it and don't seem to notice it; maybe cause my exhaust & subs block it out lol

I want brakes so bad lol
