Re: 91 engine codes
I keep reading this post, I'd love to help you, as I think I'm the only regular on this board that once owned the '91 V6 model year.
But in the whole time I owned that truck - 11yrs/150k+ miles, that CEL never showed it's face, and the O2 was original. IIRC - the '91 had a distributor, have you changed that? What spark plugs are you running? The 3.1L is the GM/Chevy engine, so I would lean towards parts for the liking of a Chevy engine. Change the distributor, you mentioned sensor - was that the O2 sensor?? Did you disconnect your battery to clear the codes after installing the new O2? Also, that's a 15yr old truck, but you didn't mention mileage - your timing chain, if you're over 140k or so, maybe in need of replacing. I do know that at the time that we traded ours in, 155k or so, the chain was getting louder, I knew it was very close to needing done - but we needed a bigger truck, so I didn't spend the money to fix it. If that chain is weakening, it could cause your timing to be off, which would effect everything. One more thing, check to see if you have a MAF sensor - I can't remember if it had one or not, and I know I never looked for it either. If you have one, it should be just beyond the air filter in your intake - if you find it, give it a VERY gentle cleaning with MAF sensor cleaner (can be found a pepboys).

Re: 91 engine codes
Thanks for the ideas ramblin. And yes the o2 sensor is the one that was changed. I 'll cahnged the distributer cap and i believe the plugs are ngk. As well ive never changed the timing belt i think it must have been done by previous owner. I bought the truck at around 230k and it now has 275k. To be honest my rodeo is a winter beater and just wanna put enough money into it to keep it going. The truck has to many little things wrong with it that its not worth fixing. thanks for all the help.

Re: 91 engine codes
Well if changing the distributor doesn't work; check to see if your timing is correct.
Are you in a situation such as myself, worried about not passing emissions? If you're not, and are not worried about fixing it, then I'd just do the distributor - and see where that leads you. Is that the automatic or Manual?
