movistar '05(sete gibernau)

hi guys,

after a day or two of break & long thinking of what's the next bike to make, i've decided to make movistar '05 as i've love the new scheme.

i'll be starting the work on the engine but while i'm working on it, i got a question to ask.

seeing the photo of the nose cowl that i received below, the make seems to be like the nose cowl provided by the kit that is the '03 look. how do i set up the '05 version on this nose cowl?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

as i'm halfway through my work in the engine, the front fork, the wheel & the stand, i discovered that not only the nose is incomplete, the rear fender seems to be missing.

i've looked through my working desk & i don't think i can find it. probably the pack was short of it.

guess i have no choice but to use the '03 version of the rear fender unless someone can give me an idea on how to modify the '03 version to '05

hi guys,

i'll just show you people the photo of the front fender. as far as i read the threads on the movistar, i understand that ts-51 is too dark for the movistar colour scheme. so, i thought 'hey, why not try mica blue(can't remember what's the code)?' & i sprayed the front fender & that's the result with the photo below.

I don't think Mica Blue is the way to go if you're looking for accuracy. I had some success painting Racing blue over a silver base. I too got it too dark using just Racing blue over white primer.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

hi guys,

i know it's been some time since i've been telling the story so far. anyway, just to tell you how far i am. i've just completed the engine & the engine is the same as i've build the previous rcvs. anyway, i'll be building the frame tomorrow & i'll try to spray the fairings that time if the weather permits. lately, it's been raining & cold wind blowing around.

joel, i saw your site on your work on the movistar '03, how do you strip the paint?

I used brake fluid and just put the parts in it. Let them be in for a day or so and then picked them out and went over them with a tooth brush. Some paint is still left but sand it out and prime and you can have another go.

Is it the kit from Renaissance?? it seems that they work too much fast...
Well if you want to see some part in particular of this bike just tell me because I have the book of the 05 season (pit walk) and I can scan some for you if you need ,or check out my website I think that the pictures of the Nicky's bike are from 05.

Hope to see more pictures from this project soon

Good luck!

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

hi guys,

looks like i have no choice unless someone can give me an idea on how to make a scratchbuild. i know that i have a spare rear fender from another valencia that i use to make k/m(which i haven't completed cause short of cushion as the kit is too big but i'll complete it when i have the time as i have the cushion) but i wouldn't dare to make a scratchbuild after a little bit of research.

anyway, here are the photos of the swing arm with different angles. i put the decals earlier on as i've experienced a little that with the wire & the exhaust getting into the way, i decided to put it on before that.

i'll be working on the front fork along with the fairings, fuel tank, the exhaust & the nose cowl. i guess i'll give it a try to make a '05 design of the nose as i have some epoxy putty to use. not sure whether it'll work or not but i think it'll be worth a try. hopefully the weather permits tomorrow so that i can work on the fairings.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

From what I've read earlier there isn't just the front section that isn't up to standards with the ´05 set up... Try to do something about it if you like. If it's too big a job, just skip it.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

hi again,

while i was waiting for the fairings & fuel tank to dry after painting, i decided to modify the nose to match the '05 look. this is the photo. i'll cut off the excess when it's fully dry. what's your opinion?

i tried to put the putty on the bottom cowl from the leftover from the previous valencia which i didn't use but looks like i have to skip it for the time being as it may take a lot of work to make it precise.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

now that i've done all of the paintings in the morning & afternoon, the only thing left is to put fairings & decals.

anyway, here are the photos of the model without the fairings attached.

the exhaust that i used is the renaissance resin parts but so far no problem. the only problem i had when making this is the front fork wouldn't get placed properly until i damaged a part. luckilly it's not badly damaged as i managed to seal it back. i used a leftover pe part for the radiator since the repsol '03 has the pe part for it, so i used the s27 which i didn't use.

here is the photo of one of the fairing that i put the decals on it.

took me a while to measure & looking through the pitwalk photo book for the positioning reference.

hopefully i can finish the bike by tomorrow nite.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

hi guys,

here are the photos of the completed model in different angle. the only setback that i have is i don't have a microsol, so you may notice that there are some decals sticking out. only if the local model shop & toyshop knows what i'm talking about cause when i ask for microsol, one of the workers would give me a blank look then ask the others who would also do the same & in the end, they tell me that they do not know what i'm talking about despite i've described what is it used for.

anyway, at least it's completed & i'm not sure what to make next. probably the fortuna yamaha which i kept on hold so that i don't have to do the m1 everytime.

Re: movistar '05(sete gibernau)

Started this one months ago and have only done engine , frame , and wheels.
are you sure you haven't got a little production line going on there ?
As It's my first T/k taking time to get fittings right and as I can see tail piece needs some work otherwise stunning job on this can't wait for your next project
