Question on my engine

I've got an 89 civic hb

the guy i bought it from had rebuilt the engine for his nos and all that stuff ...but my question is....

is it possible to have an engine half carburated and half fuel injected?

a friend of mine said that is what my engine is, but i didn't know if that can be true. thanks!
:hehehe:

Don't listen to your friend he is on crack..... You probably have a 1.6l si engine.... I doubt that it has been swapped but it might have been. Si is Multi Point Fuel Injection (has a silver intake manifold) and the dx is dual point fuel injection (has black airbox on top of intake manifold). Your car is not half carborated half fuel injected trust me on this! You can figure out if it is a Si or Dx by the following methods...
Si were only made in 5spd manual, came with sport seats that have a rectangular headrest, in 88-89 had painted bumpers, was MPFI.
DX were made in auto and manual, came with uncomfortable seats that had cheap looking headrests, 88-89 had black bumpers, DPFI.

Talking

He probably said that it was half of each because on the dual point the throttle body is sideways facing up and looks jinda like a carberater and has the fuel injectors inside it rather than on the manafold:smoka:

First Off If You Run NOS In The Std Engine YOu Will Blow The Hell Out Of It!!! The Person YOu Bought It From LIED TO YOU!!!!! There's No Possible Way You Can Prep A STD Engine For NOS, THere Is Not Enough After Market Support For That Engine!!

Maybe he confused the engine with the JDM 100bhp D15B which had computer-controlled twin-carbs and came out in the Aussie (and British?) GL 4Gs and the JDM XT25 (and a few other varients).

Oh, and they will run NOS if prepped properly. Hell, if an EB3 1G Civic can run NOS (albeit drawing through twin 40mm webbers) then I can't see why a later model Honda engine won't - mind you, I'd be upgrading the fuel delivery system somewhat

unfortunately you cant prep a d15a for NOS the engine is the lowest of the d-series engines, you have a hard time buying an oil cap for that engine let alone parts needed to prep the car for NOS!!! and even if you did foolishly run Nos In that engine, the horse power would be slim to none!! this engine is 71 hrsp stock!!! NOS Would Be A BOMB ON WHEELS!!!! And i doubt it if she had an AUSSIE Engine, nobody want the carbureated engine, let alone ship it to the states!!!

just my opinion!!

Ask Moppie or Setanta they will tell you! I know that New Zealand has JDM parts and cars imported in all the time and this is how Setanta and Moppie can hook us up with genuine JDM parts.

Austrailia gets JDM market models and a d15 can be prepped for nitrous just like any other honda motor. Convert the fuel injection to multipoint and build the internals. Same way you would prep any other motor for nitrous.

Yes it can be preped the thing is that prepping a 92hp engine (doesnt the STD have the dx motor?) for nos is retarded......
