Door Ajar

hi, I just brought a 2004 impala ls and sometimes when i open the driver door to get out the radio doesnt go off. It seems like the car is not noticeing that the door is open (only the driver side door). I can be driveing down the street and open the door and the open door light will not come on.Can yall give me some suggestions.

Sounds like your gonna need a new door latch assembly. The door ajar switch (well, not a switch, just a piece of plastic) is broken, or just out of place. I work for Delphi, and make the door latches for the Impalas, and let me tell you, if you were to open a door latch, and see whats in it, and then compare it to how much it costs, you would flip! Just about every single part (2 parts maybe metal),is made out of plastic, and all of that stuff breaks easly. Thejust don't make em like they used to... But anyway, look for a replacement in a junkyard before going to the dealership (A.K.A. stealership, as xerofinity would say). Good luck
