Tranmission Gone Nutty

Recently I Took A Two Week Vacation. Upon Returning Wife Went To Store In The Buick 94 Lasabre And All Went Well. Mind You, Car Sat Still In Drive For Two Weeks. Anyway The Next Day, Get In Car Back Out Of Drive And Pull Into Drive, Or Over-drive Which Is Normal. It Just Sat There, Acting As If You Had A Switch And Turning It From Drive To Neutral. It Jerked In And Out Of Gear. Now, You Put It In Drive And All Seems Ok. One Time It Will Work Fine And The Next, It Will Do The Jump Out Of Gear Thing. Fluid Is A Little Discolored, Yet Full. Have Tried Several Things I Thought Might Help, But Still Happens. Told It Might Be A Sticking Valve. Any Help Would Be Apreciated Before I Have To Spend More On It Than It's Worth.

Thanks
Larry,

Welcome to AF. This is an internal slippage issue, it can be scanned with a trans function scanner to look at solenoid operation but I believe this is going to be an overhaul situation.

Yea, this sounds like the typical input clutch seal problem. When cold, the seals shrink and bypass fluid pressure. You can buy yourself a little time before a rebuild, if you follow the procedure discussed in these two threads, here & here.
