IMRC'S....Be Careful

Hi All

I have been dealing with several ancillary problems since doing my lower intake manifold gasket repair. First the water pump immediately following the job, and now my IMRC's quit working. I believe the main problem is the control solenoid on the back of the intake manifold is not "metering" vacuum to the actuators. However, today in doing a bit more troubleshooting I noticed my front (left I believe) IMRC will not respond to vacuum as appiled with my hand pump. POINT: it worked last week. The only thing that has happened since, is that I attempted to block the valve open with a thick hex nut. I can only guess that in manipulating the actuator arm open forcibly, that I broke the internal diaphragm. The rear actuator is still fine. So, be careful out there with the IMRC actuators. They are fragile and expensive, although I see Rock Auto now has an aftermarket one for $79 which is not too bad by comparison.

By the way: do you all agree that the left side of the engine is the front bank (2,4,6)?

Thanks

we are saying the same thing. The left hand side is forward (towards radiator). I was mistaken with the cylinder numbering; I know better: 123 across the back, 456 across the front.

Thanks
