I was planning on buying a focus, but when I see you

Is the sedan focus a piece of shit too?

theyre not shitty cars at all. A lot of people dick on them since theyre an attempt at a sport compact domestic. I say buy one, and i drive an import. i dont think youll be dissapointed. I like the hatches though.

So you reckon the 2002 and 2003 are alright then?
I am going to look at a 2002 ZX5 tonight, maybe to buy?
I have heard you should stay clear of the 2000 & 2001, is this true?

Thanks.
Ray

I always thought that Focuses are nice. however ive read many reviews from different sources on focuses and other cars in the same category for a similar price. It just seems to me that you can get more for what you pay with other cars. Then again ive never driven a focus so i dont really know. my suggestion is go out take your time a test drive MANY different vehicles in your price range. Then make your decision on what car really gives you that "feeling" and go for it. Fuck what everyone else thinks, its your car. But most importantly DONT RUSH!

hey svtpower, I'm on focaljet, too
I have a 2002 SVT focus, and it's a great car
Focuses are really nice cars, and I think that it'd be a really good choice to get.
I'd go with a three door hatchback. You can get an SVT for about 14.8K or 14.5K new. Just bring your add there, because when I got mine, they brought out a paper that was selling it for 16.9K! the paper I had said 14.5K.. heh They just recently decided to put the dealer rebates on the SVT focus.. It's a good car, If you can afford that, I'd go for it.

Re: focus?------->SHITTY?

I agree with what eveyone so far has said, the focus is a great car, especially the SVT version, but don't go and buy one because everyone else said so, do what dbiggss said and test drive everything in your price range and in that market.

I also agree on the focus being worth its value...I am not a big fan of Fords but I do like the focus... Its a good economy car but I have heard of a few nagging engine problems with the OLDER focus'...Such problems may have been corrected if you have bought used

The Focus is an amazing little car. Ignore the things people say on here about them being crap...they're just trying to stir up trouble.

The only years that you need to stay away from are the 2000 and 2001 model years.

As far as a Focus to buy, i suggest one with the Zetec motor, preferably an '03 model, because then you get a fail-safe cooling system on the car.

The Focus hasn't been awarded the '10 best' award every year since it's introduction for no good reason! It's ride/handling technology is superior to everything else in it's price range, it's the roomiest little car on the market.

If you go and compare it to the other cars in it's price range, make sure you compare model to model so you can see the value encorporated with each. If you're looking used and it's a matter of price, the Focus should be at the top of your list right off the top because used they sell for EXTREMELY good prices.

I hope that helps, good luck with your hunt!

Re: focus?------->SHITTY?

i am also a member of focaljet and focusfanatics. people complain about certain things of the car, but they are overall fantastic. every car has 1 or 2 flaws, but i havent found any with my focus. Just test drive a couple to make sure you dont get a lemon. I love my zx5, the thing is soooo fun to drive and its pretty quick too, with a stock 130 hp it is not bad. i recently added some new wheels/tires + suspension set up + full exhaust components (APEX'i cat back, focussport shorty header + flexpipe + catco high flow cat). I am ordering a CAI and a new intake manifold this weekend. Foci are awesome and i definatly suggest one.
