Help my hatchie

The other day i started my car and the check engine light came on. it was way screwed up cuz it was idling at 2,000 and whenever i got over 3,500 it wouldnt push any farther. I drove it down the road, shut it off, then started it back up and it was fine. It did it once more since then so i restarted it and it was fine again. Whats going on with it??? Please help me. The engine has 200,000 miles on it but i cant afford a swap just yet. Is this the beginning of the end of my engine?

pull back the passenger carpet, where you feet rest. under the carpet there is a metal cover, idk if you can see the ecu light from there, if you cannto the you gotta take off the 4 bolts that hold the metal cover on. once the cover is removed, youll be albe to see the ecu light

Have you ever changed the timing belt? I has the same problem and ignored it since all I would have to do was turn the car off and then on again and it would run fine. Of course a month later 'snap' the timing belt broke.... No bent valves which I was lucky but you should change the belt every 100,000 kms...

This sounds to me like a timing or distributor issue. Maybe your timing belt has slipped a tooth or something. Maybe your distro is fried.
