2003 sienna alarm not wrking with new key fobs

I recently bought some keyless remotes for a 2003 toyota sienna on ebay. I got the same directions previously posted on the forums (both from the seller of the key fobs and also directly from toyota). They work all doors fine after programming but they do not arm or disarm the alarm.
When I bout the van it cam with a generic remote and it works everything fine, including the alarm.
Just wondering if anyone knows how to get the remotes to also operate the alarm.
