HP Gain

Hey, I was wondering what the easiest way to get a 20hp gain would be which would not include boosting. I think my ride needs a little more zip. At the moment it is completly stock. I was thinking about a short ram intake and maybe exhaust. Would that do it?

Re: HP Gain

With a cai and a cat back exhaust it averages about 10-15 hp. if you read the sticky how to make your car go faster there is a ton of info there. also ignition products and fuel management help.

on a side note... I hate it that i have the 2.2 motor when I deserve the 2.4 because I know the potential it has and what to do and how much it costs and where to buy the products from. And there are people out there with the 2.4s who dont know anything and I know that they arent going to use the car to its potential it drives me nuts. Anyways that is my rant.

Re: HP Gain

With just about all the practical methods and "bolt on" products for a n/a car you would be lucky to get a total of 25 to the ground.

Re: HP Gain

An exhaust step up, from the catalytic converter back. When people say they got a catback exhaust, it's all the piping and muffler from the cat converter back. Header back would be an entire exhaust step up. From the header on the motor allll the way back to the exhaust tip. Plus the cat converter and/or resonator in between.

Re: HP Gain

u want that performance sound without spending 500-800 on a catback setup, just go buy a performance muffler....sumtin like Maganflow will give you that sound for about 100 bucks.

if u want performance sell the cavalier and buy a bike....Honda or Suizuki make some cheap speed

yeah, or when its winter, they may be fun but they're not practical for an "everyday vehicle"
