insult to injury

So today, I'm driving home from out of state. I get stuck in a traffic jam, where 3 lanes have to merge into one, and that single lane is stopped every so often so a dumptruck or whatever can turn around, etc. So on a trip that should have taken 2 and a half hours, halfway through, I'm at a standstill for an hour. Grand! Whatever, it was nice enough out and I had good music. Other than getting tailgated by some prick in a Honda, I stayed positive.

As soon as I'm out, I try and make up some time...and what happens. 3 miles up hte road I get nailed for speeding. Now again, I've been pulled over plenty of times, and I was speeding, so I can't really complain, and I'm not too worried about it, because I will fight it.

But, I think it sucks that they put up a speed trap right after a monster traffic jam. I mean not 1 single cop was at the construction site, but 3 were waiting just up the road to nail people trying to make up lost time. Probably set up the speed trap so the county could pay for the damn construction. I know I was in the wrong technically, but that just kinda struck me as insult to injury.

Re: insult to injury

Traffic jams are a government conspiracy to get us to drive faster and get more tickets.

PS I too have five crisp dollars, but you can't have them.

Re: insult to injury

I think cops actually enjoy stuff like that. It actually brings some of them joy. Theres a sopt just outside Tallahassee, FL where the highway speed limit drops from 65 to 55 to 45 within like 1.5 miles. So if you miss the one sign posted for each new limit, you're guaranteed to get flagged by the state trooper that sits just ahead of the 45 sign hidden by an overpass.

And sorry, I don't have any money, but I have some coupons for Burger King if you want those

Re: insult to injury

yeah, i have one too but they're not fool proof. radar detectors don't do shit against laser or instant-on radar.

Re: insult to injury

i have this one:
http://www.escortradar.com/x50-reviews.htm. it's saved my ass more than enough times to pay for itself, but, like i said, no radar detectors are fool proof.

but regardless of the detector, once you get hit with laser you're screwed, nothing you can do about it, all the detector does at that point is let you know you're fucked. and instant on is the same way. the radar isn't on 'til the cop hits it, so as soon as you come around a corner or up over a blind hill he hits you with it, and you're caught. if the cop's dumb enough to just sit with his radar detector on (which many of them are) then you should be alright. You're only chance with laser and instant-on is if someone else is in front of you and the cop hits them first so your detector can pick it up. that or get a jammer, which is illegal.

Re: insult to injury

How come the blue display costs $40 more!? Bastards! Eh, not like I'm buying it any time soon anyway. Even though I need one for my drive through Kentycky in January. The Highway Patrol in KY is crazy

Had one in the car when I got nailed. They are definantly not perfect. It helps, and it has saved me numerous times, but I've still gotten pulled over a number of times with one.

Re: insult to injury

I have a cobra 360 radar detector. I bought it at a pawn shop for like 30 bucks. Ive had it pick up cops over a half mile away. When it goes off sometimes, just as I think its full of shit suddenly i will see the cop car and think to myself "dayum this thing works hella good". It also picks up ambulances, firetrucks, and other emergency vehicles. It even tells you on the display what kind of radar its picking up. It says things like "emergency vehicle" ect.
