Climate Control Error Codes?
My 91 cougar XR7 recently flashed two error codes on the temperature display, the first was an E2, and the second was an E7 which is now constantly on display and the AC doesnt work. When the AC is turned on it continues to blow hot air. Even when off it blows some hot air. Can any one give some insight as to the reason or cause for these particular error codes and what they might mean?

Here are the Codes Keys for your vehicle.
It appears that your blend door motor or blend door has malfunctioned. Codes for Existing Errors 88°F°C--System OK. E1--Replace control assembly. E2--Blend door cannot reach desired position. Possible failure at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. E3--In-vehicle sensor open. E4--Ambient sensor (mounted on radiator support) open. E5--Sunload sensor (mounted on defroster grille) short. E6--Blend door travel is out of range. Possible failure at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. E7--Blend door cannot calibrate. Possible failure at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. E8--In-vehicle sensor short. E9--Ambient sensor (mounted on radiator support) short. Codes for Intermittent Errors P2--Blend door could not reach desired position. Possible failure had occurred at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. P3--In-vehicle sensor was open. P4--Ambient sensor (mounted on radiator support) was open. P5--Sunload sensor (mounted on defroster grille) was short. P6--Blend door travel was out of range. Possible failure had occurred at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend door actuator. P7--Blend door could not calibrate. Possible failure had occurred at evaporator assembly or wiring to blend actuator. P8--In-vehicle sensor was short. P9--Ambient sensor (mounted on radiator support) was short. P codes indicate intermittent errors. That is, since the last battery hookup, a failure had occurred but has corrected itself. To clear P codes, depress the COOL button for three seconds. Check circuit to make sure the condition has been resolved. NOTE: P codes are automatically erased after 100 "ignition on" cycles.

Thank You !
Awesome!.... Where did you find those codes? And, have you had any experience repairing something like that, or what it might cost? I appreciate you taking the time to give me all the codes. Thanks again.

I have had the "Luxury", if you want to call it that, of repairing all sorts of Air Conditioning/ Heating concerns.
The fun part about the whole ordeal is PULLING THAT BIG PIECE OF PLASTIC called a "DASH" out!! To be honest, this could get ugly when it comes to costs to fix problems like this, unless the blend door actuator is the problem and it can be easily accessed (I doubt it) I would suggest taking it to a repair shop where they know EXACTLY what they are doing. But that's just my opinion!! :smoka: Good Luck!! Fordman123
