GM cars are junk

At 56,000 miles, my 2001 Grand Am is costing me 3,600 in repairs due to faulty Intake Manifold Gaskets coupled with Dex-Cool. GM knew about this years ago but decided it wasn’t ‘Financially Advisable’ to issue a recall. GM and their co-conspirators are criminals. Criminals who are no better than those low life con men serving time for insurance, credit card and Identity fraud.
GM has officially blamed the drivers of these vehicles citing low levels of coolant. They say the owners didn’t take care of their car and that’s why it happened.
I didn’t know anything was wrong even when dex-cool “oozed” all over the motor and just kind of sat there corroding certain areas. Dex-Cool is advertised as Anti-Corrosive. I have seen with my own 2 eyes that it is most certainly corrosive.
The temp stared to spike one day and I had no heat. That’s when I knew something was wrong.
My mechanic says Dex-Cool has sent a lot of business his way.
The biggest problem with my car (and most expensive to date) is a block in the heating core that ate right through and is leaking into my floorboard.
I take care of my cars. I take excellent care of my cars. I have the 2001 Grand Am and a 2001 Firebird. These cars have the same engine. They were purchased the same time and have always been serviced at the same time by the same person. I never treated one better than the other. They were serviced regularly. All scheduled maintenance was performed on time and by the same person on both cars. There is NO difference in how they were treated. The Grand Am just happened to get the faulty Gaskets (which I am convinced is how the problems with Dex-Cool start) and the Firebird was just lucky.
This is a faulty parts issue coupled with the use of Dex-cool. GM knows it.
It’s criminal they way we have been treated by General Motors.
I have purchased my last American made car. All my friends and co-workers are with me. They see the hell I’ve had to endure because I bought a GM.
How sad is it that I have to turn to another country just get a reliable car.

Re: GM cars are junk

First off you dont need to post twice on the same topic!

Your car had the original LIM gaskets and they are crap.
Dex is no more corrosive then the original coolant, the only other additive in Dex is a type of sodium(salt)!

But to come here just to b***h isnt right either.
I have replaced 6-7 LIM on my 99', and its only about a 1200$ job.
But if you let it go and and continue to leak and drive it hard(improper maintenance) it'll ruin your motor for sure.
And as of 2002 the gaskets were revised. So your mechinc should have known this, So find your self a new mechanic that knows his stuff next time.

Heater cores crap out all the time too , could have been a bad solder joint or excesive pressure burst it.

The only reason it wasnt recalled is because the car was discontinued and thiers not realy anything we can do.
