mushy brakes

After hearing the squeeler thing, i replaced my brake pads. They were about 6 months old. The caliper pins were stuck due to lack of lube. The inner pads on both sides of car (front) were worn out and the outers looked brand new. I only put in new pads. Now when i drive, i get a very mushy response and it takes awhile to stop, if i put the break all the way to the floor even its still a gradual stop. When stopped with windows open, i can pump my brakes and hear it creaking noises, and the pedal will go all the way to the floor each time.

I lubed up the caliper pins, and checked on my brakes a few days later. The bottom half of each brake pad is touching the rotors and the top half is brand new as in , not even a scratch on the surface. All 4 pads loook like this in the front end.

Im thinking if i buy new rotors this may fix the problem. My rotors are about 6 months old but were abused due to the caliper pins sticking.

Thanks

-Troy

Re: mushy brakes

The mushing is due to air in the lines, bleed them and it should solve that issue.

If you still here that creaking you need to replace those pins and all the clips that attach to the caliper(s).
The creaking it the pins not wanting to slide, and can tear up the caliper mounting braket.

When you installed the new pads did you put the ones with the wear indicator on the inside?
Thats where they go, if you have them turned around they'll wear just the bottm of the pads.
Thiers rivets on the pads that , when installed backwards, will cause them to set uneven and will screw up your rotors for sure..

Your rotors can be turned if they arent grooved to bad. Napa does them for pretty cheap.
I heard my local Napa does them for $10 each.

Hope that helpd !
