Two things ....
Hello everyone. To start I am not making some BS claims or am trying to sell you something. I have not posted much here so don't start a flame war please. If you do then oh well I guess? So here it is...What in the world is so special about FL getting cars past customs? They seem to be the holy land of importation. I am not a noobie to the importing laws (like many have spent way to much time and sleepless night read and read and of course reading) but I don't claim to be a expert. Seriously am I missing something? Ive called FL customs and from my understanding what they are doing is impossible, then how are they doing it? Sorry about the rant on that matter
OK here goes number two Bottom line (or almost to it) to get the R34 of course it needs to be crash tested and resubmitted to NHSTA plus the epa work. Not small bucks to do this, as you all know. With everything in mind who would be interested in getting a R34 or R33 for that matter? Just something that I was thinking about. Aaron |

Re: Two things ....
Saying an doing are two different things...
Alot of todays "legitatimate importers" who apparently know how to properly "convert" an R33 or R34 are just plain outright full of it. As of now there is no way to get any of the skylines into the united states legally as well as silvia's. This has been going on for age's. I might try an bring a 240Z aka S30Z in about a year or two an I know that's going to be a hassel.

Re: Two things ....
it is a kit car if everthing is in a different container, no the front axles and rear axles dnt have to be in different containers. just the major components, engine, trans, body, chassis, tires/wheels, interior.
the importing of the skyline as a kit car is the same as the nobel's, body from south africa, american engine, and british chassis, all brought in in different cases, and assembled in ohio or something like that. the only problem with registering the skyline as a kit car, if u need a part from a dealer, they might ask for the skylines vin# to make sure it's leagly here. when importing a car like the skyline its always best to go by the book, but when therre's a loophole, dnt expose it too much or u ruin it for everyone else. yes it would have to be recrash tested, and a lot of other things to make it leagle. but to tell u the truth u can spend millions on doing everything by the book, i dnt think the us government is going to let any r32 or r34 back in, i think the r33 is still leagly allowed. |
