bucking severely uphills
hi there. new owner, ive had this 99 manual for about 2 weeks. runs great, except up big hills. as soon as it really needs to work, it starts bucking like crazy, wont rev, (not even in neutral) and falls flat on its face. on flat ground this thing runs real strong. anyone have an idea???

Re: bucking severely uphills
Try to clean the MAF first. My zx2 had a hint of that with a dirty MAF. However, I think if it was that severe it would trip the dash light. Otherwise i'm thinking of a restriction with the fuel filter or a weak fuel pump. Does this happen at wide open throttle on a level grade?

Re: bucking severely uphills
nope. has full power on flat or even smaller hills. its just the long, steep hills, where the car really has to work. maf has been cleaned, i learned that trick with my 4.6l.
i remember even with the clutch in, it wouldnt rev over 3000 while it was doing this. thanx for the help |

Re: bucking severely uphills
Test the fuel pressure when driving uphill by leaving the guage connected and figuring out a place where it will stay when driving. Someone told me to tape it to the windshield. Then you can eliminate or confirm one system... I assume there's no codes right?

Re: bucking severely uphills
thanks for the input. i suspect the fuel system too. I do have a scanner and it has no codes. if my tbird were to do that it would chuck up a code quick.
been driving it all around town lately, no problems. i think tonight im gonna hit that hill again and maybe pay more attention. |
