Re: i need help bad

Let me recommend the following:

1. MAKE SURE that this is the car you want. Buying a car to tune is a commitment that should be kept with.

2. READ as much as you can about the vehicle and it's powerplants. Then read some more. Then do internet searches. After that, you should learn all that you can about turbos and what it takes to run/maintain them. Turbos aren't just something you can slap on a car and go with, you need to know how to deal with them and maintain the vehicle they are a part of. You can learn a lot more by doing your own research than you can by asking in a short--and poorly written, might I add--post on a car forum. We can give you answers but not to the extent you need to make informed decisions.

3. Be smart about it. Don't get into tuning because "OMG It's SOOOOO COOL!!!" We see enough of that in here and quite honestly, it's pretty lame. Don't be afraid to ask a question, but make sure you have at least some foundation for that question and haven't garnished any results from searching the net.

4. Use complete words when posting here. You have no idea how many members on these boards are sticklers for complete words/sentences. Seriously. You'll get better responses by using proper grammar, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure than you might think.

GUYS: Be patient please.

Welcome to AF.

Re: i need help bad

it would be best to find out what the different motors are and what they are best used at. A KA24-E or KA24-DE are best for draging, and are the cheapest, the SR20DET is great for drifting and mor expensive than the KA. do some research first.

Re: i need help bad

must run 8lbs of boost? is that on a t25 or a t88? it's better to measure this in power. the 240sx's stock engine can handle 240 - 260 hp safely, but anything higher than 300 is a little dangerous when daily driven. Doesnt matter though, because you shouldnt be concerned with power untill your car is turning and stoping nicely, even more so when you dont even have your license yet. experienced driver > universe of mods.

Re: i need help bad

most importantly, do NOT rush into this. if you do decide to buy a 240sx or other car for that matter... read and read for months. believe me, it comes in useful. dont jump into just throwing a turbo kit on it and whats the cheapest easiest way. first, get your car, get used to it in stock trim. a 240sx puts out more than enough power stock for whatever it is you plan on using it for. drive the car for a while before even thinking about modding it. then, once you THINK about modding it. do research for a LONG time. there is an FAQ sticky on the main 240sx page, and if you search we have all provided a bunch of pages regarding many different aspects of this car.

thanks for the reply, but im not exactly new to tuning, ive been diong it for years and my friends have some of the fastest cars in the state. i just always heard pretty good things about 240sx's and its time for me to get a car again, the reason i lost my liscense was in partial to racing! but anyway thanks again for the info, and i guess i will probably be talkin to you again.
p.s. u didnt answer my question, what car would you suggest? i want a fast car with a decent powerplant that can handle a few lbs. of boost and it has to be rear wheel drive.

Re: i need help bad

you could find a silvia for 6-7gs which has a good stock engine (sr20).. it'd be right hand drive and stock turbo.. i believe they boost at 7-8 psi stock but i don't have much interest in sr's so don't take my word for it.. or if you want to start from scratch then just buy a shell and put an engine in it.. however much power you want will be decided on how much money you want to spend. you could put almost any engine in almost any car (i've seen a v8 ferraro).. the 240 is a great car. you could also look at the z32 300zx.. they came with a v6 turbo or n/a v6.. they are super fast and can be hard to find.. especially a shell.. i'd say the 240 would be an easy find.. then just buy whichever motor you can afford and build from there.. any of us could talk about this for hours and hours.. there's a lot for you to learn about nissans.. start here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ad.php?t=92927
if you find that stuff interesting then you're set. check out the nico forums too cause there's a lot of knowledgable guys there too.

If you had the knowledge to work with cars that were the fastest in your state, you wouldnt be asking the questions youve asked

Re: i need help bad

This page will tell you all hp specs, size, etc, http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ad.php?t=92927, it has a 2.4 L inline 4 dohc puting out about 155 hp and about 169 ft-lbs torque, the ka would be a good motor to build up if you are looking to drag, you could easily push 5-600hp fully built up, the sr20det is a good motor for drifting, it has about 205 hp and about 203 ft-lbs torque, its all in the faqs, parts sites are there too

Re: i need help bad

YO check this out cuz

all your requirements in your first post are met easily by a b13 sentra SE-R. its a better match for you. stronger stock motor, lighter, cheaper, easier to work on, ect, ect.
