Re: What is this belt ?

There's only 2 belts and then the timing belt. There's the alternator belt, then the power steering/AC. Those are on the main crank pully. Then behind that is the timing belt. I don't think you can see that from the bottom.

Wrong. One belt is for the alternator and power steering (Thats the one you can see from the engine bay) And the second belt (thats the one that can be seen from underneath) is for the AC...Unless the 7-bolt is different...

Re: What is this belt ?

Ahh, I figured the layout was the same as the 420a. The alt belt is on it's own.

Re: What is this belt ?

If the Ac belt snaps it might whip up and break something. You might as well go ahead and change it or just cut it for now. Better safe than sorry!

Re: What is this belt ?

No it won't break anything, you actually might see a small increase in rev quickness because its less of a strain on the motor, but I'd just replace it and be on your way. IIRC, it's a PITA to get at the tensioner.

Re: What is this belt ?

Any belt should work fine. No sense spending more money on a part that will work the same from any manufacturer.

Re: What is this belt ?

OEM Mitsubishi brand belts have a less of a chance to sqeak when wet though. Most belts from the store have the grooves and are cut on diagonals while the OEM is usually just the grooves.

Re: What is this belt ?

don't buy a housebrand belt, actually spend the money and get a good one cuz pulling the motor halfway out is the easiest way to change that belt!

I've ran all Napa brand belts except for the timing and have never had a problem with wear, cracking, or breaking. They're good belts. And pulling the motor halfway out is not the easiest way to change it you idiot. Why would that make it easier if you have to pull it out halfway? It may give you alot better access, but if you're a half-ass educated person that knows how to turn a wrench, it's not that hard to install it.
