engine shuts down in the middle of the street

ok, eclipse RS, driving in the middle of the street, engine goes from 500 rpm to 0 rpm then just shuts down itself, i have to constantly pumping gas into it to make it run, or turn the heater on at max lvl.

also, when u put on neutral to reverse, or neutral th drive, there is a 'burp' sound

does anything sound familiar?

Re: engine shuts down in the middle of the street

Have you disconneted your battery recently? I know it takes a few starts for the computer to reset itself an get the idle correct, but it usually does not affect the engine under driving, just when it idles. Other than that idk. No check engine light?

throttle position sensor? make sure your throttle cable is tight

then start checking spark, air and fuel

Re: engine shuts down in the middle of the street

Mine is doing that too... I just disconnected my battery yesterday for ~45 minutes and it's dying when idling... It's been like that after a few starts... What else can i do?

Re: engine shuts down in the middle of the street

No, just let it be. If you disconect the battery again it will restart the cycle. It needs like 5-10 starts to reset the computer and get your idle right. It will fix itself.
