Hi, does anyone know how to access the blower motor on a 1996 C1500? When cold out (as it' starting to get here in Detroit), the motor chatters on lower speeds. I'm thinking that the axle bushings/bearings need lubrication.
thanks, Rick btw this truck just turned 125k and absolutely runs like new. 350 motor using Mobil 1 it's whole life. |

Re: blower motor
the haynes manual explains it very clearly..to many steps to type hear, not hard though. Did my 91 in about 1 hour.

Re: blower motor
Oldchevy, thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same thing. Get a Haynes manual and go through it.
Luckily my library has a copy I can borrow. Appreciate it, Rick |

Re: blower motor
Easy fix. I borrowed a Haynes manual from the local library and it took me all of 10 minutes to remove the blower motor.
Once removed, I cleaned and oiled the bushings, re-installed and it sounds/runs like new. the reliability of this old truck is making it REAL tough for me to part with it. RPG |

Re: blower motor
well done.
I know how you feel about the truck. I had the first tow-truck ride of my 91's life yesterday. The key was stuck in the ignition and would not shift into any gear and I could not turn it off. I knew it was the rack and ignition cylinder but I was at work and not choice but to take it in. It's going to cost $400 for new ignition set and interal column rack and it kills me. But, at almost 200,000 miles and it's first tow in almost 17 years, I can't complain. |
