Re: Calipers Slides or ?

Welcome to AF !

You might need another wrench to hold the pin that slides.
13mm is the size of the caliper bolts and the pin.

The pins are held in with the rubber boot(s) and maybe a small vacum that the brake grease creates inside the caliper braket.

hope that helps!

The front brakes are on a slide with pins and the rear brakes are on a screw type (for the emergency brake) and do require a special tool. Any parts store (autozone, napa,....) should be able to get one for you for about $15 bucks.

The only screw thing on the rear is the Retractor ring bolt.

Heres a pic of the rear drum.

Re: Calipers Slides or ?

I thought you need a special tool (square box thing with different tabs protruding out) that mates into the caliper piston to screw it back down into position (rear brakes-only)? Maybe not? My bad....

Re: Calipers Slides or ?

Many thanks for the quick replies. I should have been clear that it is disc brakes at the back. If i recalled an olds that my dad had had the screw type caliper at the back and a slide at the front. Will check the autoshops for the tool before I pull the wheels off.

Many thanks.

Re: Calipers Slides or ?

The only tool you would need is a C-clamp to press the caliper in, a big C clamp.
