89 Mustang GT 5.0 VS. 98-02 WS6 Trans Am LS1 5.7

My friend has a 5.0 (302) 89 Mustang GT...He says he can take my dad's 2000 WS6 Trans Am 6speed.

So what do you guys think? Who would win between the 5.0 and the LS1 5.7?

My money's on the LS1...Although I think he does have an aftermarket cam and headers.

My memory's a little rusty but I think the factory horsepower ratings are:

Trans Am WS6: 330HP
89 Mustang GT:225HP

those 5.0s can be made fast with some bolts.. so i agree with Curtis, race and findout.. everyone knows LS1s are 10x times faster than them.. but modded ones are another story!!

NO competition stock. Depending on his mods.. I Still say you have a chance. The only thing he has on you is that he is lighter.

I may have misinterpreted that, but If the WS6 has aftermarket heads and cam, The 5.0 will need a blower and a 200 wetshot to keep up.

I would put my money on the T/A cause i like em. Just race, if you lose your just a loser. A 6 speed with more power is going to be hard to lose in against a car with less power and probably a 5 speed.

The WS6 probably has a alot more power than 330. I beat a modded 06 Mustang GT by a car length or two.

A friend of mine has been opening a can of whoopass on the 06 mustangs (stock), in his 06 Grand Prix GXP (303 rated hp) with the tcs on off. Not to talk any shit or anything thats just whats been happening.

yeah and they are awsome on skidpad tests too for a 4dr. They tell you how many g's you pull on brakes accel and turning right on the dash. Pretty nice all around, i like the "heads up" display they have. You dont have to look down at the dash to see what speed your doing, or what rpm or gear your in its displayed digitally on the windshield. The only problem is they have heavy torque steer and no spare tire. with 303HP (im guessing more), i would expect some torque steer. Also, you cant rotate the tires cause front to back the wheels are different. Still they do very well for a 4 door family car.

um maybe i missed something...but did u say a stock ws6 has 330 hp? hell an ss camaro isnt rated that high...i wouldnt give any ls1 any more than 315 max.....and that aint even to the wheels. now a 5.0 mustang....a 3800 v6 runs close tot he same times at the track as a 5.0, but now and days i dont ever see a 5.0 (that anyone would race in) that is bone dry stock.....cam and headers does wounders for that car...now will it beat a ws6...i doubt it, unless he has more goodies under the hood than he's telling u. would it be a good race to see....um hell yeah, so this is what u do. get a video of this race, so we all can get popcorn kick back and enjoy the shoot out!! good luck, but i think u will kill him
