Thumbs up Zoom zoom! MX-5 roadster pics....

Aoshima's M2 Miata kit with a few updates.

I added a chrome border around the grille opening, and some driving lenses.

Pegasus rims used, they're dangerously close to being obscene on this car. They're really too wide, and the car certainly could sit a bit lower, at least in front. You can barely see the tiny little Aoshima rotors. I'll rectify all that on the new Auto EXE MX-5 Roadster...

Solder was used to make the roll hoops, Scale Motorsports decals on the seats, orange flocking used on the carpets. Paint is Testors Go Mango overcoated w/some Turn Signal Amber and then clear.

Very nice! I would love to do a M1 kit...do you know of one?

Did you scratch build the "style bar" or did it come with the kit?

Again...great work!!!

Im very impressed by the seats...can you tell me some more info on how they are done.
Are they just different decal sheets you can get?

Thanks for the comments!

They're painted two-toned dark blue w/orange centers, then I used a Scale Motorsports patterned decal over the orange. The decal has bluish rectangles and clear rectangles for the color to show through. I sprayed dull clear over the seats to kill the shine on the decals.

Tamiya made the Miata M1 and the Eunos Roadster, Revell did an M1. Revell's has the engine and more detail, but the body isn't as crisp or accurate as Tamiya's. The tail end looks just slightly off. But it's still a really good kit, and it has some cool tuner parts such as an air dam and a tunneled headrest fairing.

The style bar was made from solder-which also can be used on exhaust systems.

Love the car, but I'd have to lose the trim around the front air dam. Looks too much like a face not to think it's wearing silver lipstick. Reminds me of the Miatas I've seen with the 'toothy grins.'

Great, GREAT job on the interior!!! Was it a tub, or were the door panels separate? The interior door handle alone is captivating!!

Thanks! It's orange flocking material (fabric dust) applied over wet orange paint.

Naah, I kinda like the look. Sort of British/Jaguar with a happy grin, much like you normally see on Miata drivers.

The newer (2001 and up), now that's a different story. It has a much better look to the fascia, doesn't need any help. The new Auto EXE Roadster has a better fascia, also a cool rollbar, rear spoiler and rims. I've gotta get that one. Plus the white boxart car looks cool-I'm biased, as my Miata is white

Thanks, the interior has separate door panels, all I did was detail the handles w/silver chrome paint. Somehow they look even more chrome in the pic than on the model.

Nice job, I have the same rims. Your color reminds me of my orange miata in Tokyxo Xtreme Racer, lol

BTW you wouldn't happen to have the Tamiya Miata, I hear they're extremely rare..

Miata models

They were very common kits for many years, and only recently have become "rare". I've got one unbuilt Tamiya Miata and one unbuilt Tamiya Eunos Roadster. That one's been painted white to make a model of my 1:1 Miata. I got the Eunos kit because it was only 10 bucks at a shop in Michigan (I get great deals on import kits when I go to Detroit!)and molded in white instead of red.
