PS do not turn the steering wheel you will damage the air bag clock spring in the upper steering column. Check this link.http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker...3d800edf2c.jsp

Re: 97 lumina steering rack?

thanks man i didnt turn the wheel after i noticed that it didnt turn the wheels ,so after reading the info ,i believe it can be done in the car ,ill just take my time tomorrow and see if i can get it to go back ,its that dam rubber
tube like around things thats in the way ,ill slip off the yoke and put it on the shaft for the wheel ,then maybe letting it down a little may just catch in the stub shaft been fighting here for what seems days now in the mud at best?

Re: 97 lumina steering rack?

Problem solved ,the stub shaft can with difficulty be installed when everything else is bolted in ,however the worst part is the damn rubber boot over the stub shaft ,condom if you will id hard to force up out of the way but can be done ,time wise all of 3 hours alone to connect the shaft
