Question Running out of mod ideas!

im 17, and on a limited budget. I was lucky enough that my grandparents bought me this 1999 contour svt as my first car, but my problem is that ive donw some extensive reasearch and mods for csvts are pretty scarse unless your one of those inovative custom car guys. I have no garrage no tools so basiclly i need some pretty easy mods. for mods i have
-resonator delete no cat too
-exhaust and flo-pro mufflers
-cold air intake
but i want more...i see trubendz has a y-pipe on ebay for $240 how hard are these to install i do have a few friends who can help me....if any of you guys have any more ideas for cheap mods that would be awsome thanx guys...opcorn:

Re: Running out of mod ideas!

There are a couple different y-pipes(or optimize the stock one), headers, short shifters, intake tubes, optimized throttle, several suspension and brake kits, N2O kits, superchargers, a turbo kit and an engine swap available among other things. Have you looked at contour.org yet?

Re: Running out of mod ideas!

Its pretty straight forward. You may be snagged with the unistallation of your old ypipe if the stock bolts are rusted solid. Spray some liquid wrench on the bolts a day the night before you do the uninstall and that should help smoothen things.

Not really sure of the quality of flo-pro mufflers (ive never heard of them) or what kind of mufflers they are. (i.e. hopefully not baffled). I personally as well as many others on contour.org prefer a quality muffler like magnaflow.

Check out contour.org for sure. I guarantee there is mods or parts available on there that contour owners dont even know about because they arent members of CEG. A lot of aftermarkets parts come into existence because CEG.

Smile Re: Running out of mod ideas!

a local muffler shop in town sells flo-pro, and i thought the same thing about them, but se swears by them....It was either flo-pro or a flowmaster 40 series knock-off...but here in canada since ive been awear to flo-pro ive seen their products around my province..their warehouse is located about an hour away from were i live and they distribute all over north america including mexico. they are not baffled and are said to out flow many big name brands such as magnaflow flowmaster and dynamax i did find a few sources on the internet showing charts that verify this, but like they say dont believe everything you see..im going to try again to sign up to CEG (last time i had problems) and hopefully i can get some ideas their. Its so wierd owning a ford cuz im a hardcore JDM/import guy but i love my car.......thanx for all your help

Re: Running out of mod ideas!

Just from looking at flo-pro's website, Im not impressed.

Everyone one of their mufflers is baffled just like flowmasters. Heres the best straight through muffler that they carry which they call twister mufflers which has two flow paths. For best performance, you want one straight through path.

I would find another company IMHO.

Actually, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords did a write-up awhile back comparing 12 or so mufflers and their hp gains. Surprisingly, a test with no mufflers had almost the lowest hp if not the lowest compared to all the mufflers they tested. You would think that no mufflers would help increase exhaust velocity, but I guess it works the other way around.

Actually, I just call myself the "CEG Nazi" since I link to CEG as much as I can on this site.
