1995 GMC Jimmy rough idle small loss in pwr

Alright peoples i just struck into another good buy i just baught this 1995..
GMC jimmy for around 1k dollars low miles on it clean perfect paint etc ....but the resen i got it so cheap is there seems to be a steady rough idle and well know as missing and short loss of power ... enguine check light comes on ... now i have not touched a thing yet i just got it .. first off i'm going to run a computer diagnosis on it see wich and what codes it shows etc.


ok but my real qestion is please all post and list commonly known things for the 4.3 liter Vortec high output v-6.

i'm a mechanic and been doing auto motive for over 15 yrs solid ... i know if i dig at my brain i will come up with alot of diff answers ..but i'm posting here in hopes of some similar isssues from others and what there cure was etc ...

ok i'll be looking for updated posts each day untill i solve my probs

sounds like an EGR problem. Common to find carbon chunks interfering with the plunger. Mine is doing the same thing. When I get the time to get to it, I'm going to put one of the screens available from Carquest in & hopefully will eliminate this problem once & for all.
