tools?

a few years ago i bought a nakita drill and flashlight combo, and it came in one green carrying case, about 6in x 1 3/4ft x 1 1/2ft . i keep the flashlight and drill in my toolbox, but i had the case laying around. so i put some tools in it and threw it in my backseat. it fits right between the front seat and the back seat, upright on the floor. in the case i have:

8mm to 19mm sockets and ratchet
8mm to 19mm wrenches
hex keys
zip ties
vice grips
a small c-clamp
regular pliers
needle nose pliers
electrical tape & duct tape
flat head and phillups screwdrivers
t-fittings and vacuum hose

do any of you guys carry a tool case in your car, and what kind of tools do you have?

Re: tools?

Yeah I have a little zip-up craftsman set that fits perfectly under the carboard in the trunk. I think it was designed for the DSM.

Re: tools?

I have all kinds of random tools in my hatch some including... wrenches, sockets, strap wrenches, screwdrivers, couplings, thermostats(don't ask), bolts/nuts, flashlight, all kinds of pliers, and a few other things that I hope I will never have to use. BTW I was heading home tonight(1:30am) on the expressway racing a friends camaro and I blew a damn intercooler piping(only soft pipe left on my car) Luckily I happened to have the exact size socket for the t-bolt clamp lol.

Re: tools?

hey i bought that 300 piece tool kit, only it was a cardboard box, it wasnt in a case, and it rained one time and soaked the inside of my trunk. the box ripped apart and sockets and tools went everywhere. 2 years later i was still finding sockets in the spare tire spot.

also that thing weighted my car down noticeably

Re: tools?

My cellphone and WD40 are the only things I really keep in my car. I get pretty anal about weight savings. I only carry tools with me if i go to the track or something. Even then, it would be a box full of sockets, spring compressor, tuning keys, nuts, bolts, screws, etc and it fit right under my hideaway compartment (my trap door). Funy thing is that I never bring along a can of gas lol.

Re: tools?

14 mpg is spirited driving, lmao. I live my life on the gas light. So many things can go wrong, that I don't think I'd have the room for all my tools, so I just don't bring anything along. I've ran out of gas backing out of my driveway

Re: tools?

I have one of those cheapo 300+ piece tool kits in my car. Pisses me off because sometimes the sockets fal off the wrench for no reason but it gets the job done. I also have about every size wire, connectors and wiring tools.

Plus a full size jack, and two jack stands, a bag of misc socket's wrenches, files, and other random tools. And cans of wd40, engine degreaser, a thing of oil, and a thing of brake fluid. And that's about it I think.

Oh also a 1 gallon gas can.

Re: tools?

When I bought the car and had the electrial fire, I had nothing. After that, I carried a little toolbox with wire cutters, clippers, screw drivers, allen keys, and a small socket set. I was paranoid as hell after the fire, so I felt a little safer with that.

Now, I jsut have some random tools laying around in the car that are usually left over from when I work on it. A screw driver or two, allen keys for the battery terminals, and everynow and then wire cutters. Nothing major now.

Oh, and a flashlight is always needed. Then got the small jack in the trunk.

i also bring one the stock jacks, not the one from my gst, it was just sitting in my garage and i like it because i can use a 21mm socket with my extension and rachet to put my car up. and that jack is must because my car is way too low since the eibach springs.
