COMPLETE: Customer's 1965 Chevy El Camino LS1

Just got 'er finished--the tonneau cover is still drying (body colour) but otherwise done. This is apparently his dad's '65, which is in the process of an LS1 swap in real life.

Body is Dupli-Color GM Dark Cherry Metallic, the same one they used on the 95-96 Impala SS. Interior is matte black, with a photo-etch set from Model Car Garage used for the quarter panel scripts, fender badges, and interior details.

The cowl induction hood was cut out of a '70 Chevelle SS hood and grafted on, then sealed with putty. Wheels are Torq Thrust D with spokes painted gunmetal. Sidepipes I have no idea where I got, from my parts box.

LS1 is box stock out of a C5 Corvette kit. Engine bay was detailed with rad hoses by PSF Hobbies, battery wiring, heater hoses made from .062" solder, thick wire used for brake lines off the master cylinder, and washer fluid reservoire. Conical air filter from my parts box.

Since my lighting source for my photography is still lacking, the last two pics were taken sitting on my desk under a lamp, just to illustrate the clearcoat and how nice the paint turned out. Can someone recommend me a cheap way to light my photography area? Preferably something dirt cheap, ala Wal-Mart? Comments welcome! opcorn:

Very nice!
I knew this would be awesome!

I think your light source works fine, but if you really want
something else, then get a desk light for like $15, maybe
$14.68 at walmart!

That did come out nicely. I need to figure out a lighting source in my room too. I have seen some of the guys on here use 3-4 lamps to get the perfect looking shot. I know walmart has those small lamps for around 15-20 bucks...

I hope the customers like, it looks flawless as usual!

Re: COMPLETE: Customer's 1965 Chevy El Camino LS1

I'm using a single fluorescent lamp, on the top-right, and the room's lighting. I'm thinking the room's lighting is really poor, but I'm also finding it too blue because of the fluorescent...

I use flourescents on the ceiling and they are fine.
A standard desk light gives no blue look you
get with flourescent lights.

Sweet! Nice looking build, someone is going to be happy to recieve this I like those side pipes, looks great on this. Nice job

When I take pics, I have to use several desk lamps to get the amount of light I need. I've found that using those spiral wound flourescant bulbs instead of a normal 60 watt halogen is better, because it's more of a white light instead of yellow, and it cuts down on the heat, so your hands don't sweat while you're positioning the model.
