52mm TB?
52mm TB...what gains on stock motor?
heard it can up 15-20hp.. true?

(price is 200$ish) im thinking of it, so later when i do a cam swap ill get a lot more power...

It all depends on supporting mods how much you gain. If you have a better flowing exhaust and intake you may see closer to the 15 side. If you are bone stock you may only see a few horse. I think it is a good mod though considering if will help will sucking air into the combustion chamber.

The stock engine will only use so much air, and the stock 48mm is more than enough for stock engines. Invest your money in a better exhaust (headers & cat back). Then contemplate getting a larger TB. Intake mods for the LT1 aren't needed (other than the TB) to make it flow better. If you want to take the time you could port match the intake to the heads and then gasket match it all. Also smooth out any rough areas inside of the intake/plenum that you can get to. This will only get you a few more HP (MAYBE 5-10 depending) but will make a difference if/when you go to a larger cam.

hmm.. well since my car is an SS it already has a pretty good flowing exhaust, and it has a cold air intake..
im looking for a good mod in the 200-300~ish range. what do you guys suggest?

Subframe connectors. I just got some on my car and can tell a big difference.

Headers or gears will be your biggest bang for the buck mod in that price range.

gears.. that does sound fun. i have 3.42's (stock) how do i go about picking the right gear? ive herad everyone say they really like the 4.1x's and i was wondering if they would fit my rear end.. i have the ''torsen'' differential..from what i hear, those things are frickin weird.

The torsen is the better of the stock LSD's

I thought only the 99 - 02's got the torsen but I could be wrong but the Torsens are the best, Also yes you can use the same differential with your 4.10/4.11's so its a direct swap, However if you do infact have a torsen you will need to grind down the center paddle to allow enough room so it will clear the ring gear.
SLP sells a replacement paddle for the taller gears but its not really necessary and kinda expensive, with gears you can go back to stock semi easy but will require reflashing the PCM to correct the speedo both when you change the gears and then if you put back original.

![]() i have a quick programmer so its easy to go back and forth for me.. =) i know a bunch of people hate SLP in here..cuz their service sucks, but i do want some quality parts. http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...45&BIG=64045-1 what do you think? $250+sh+some of the other 'required or recommended parts' = 360 more.. includes:kit, reluctor ring, adaptor paddles.. ~600$. O_o do i need all of them? if i do the job i figure i might as well do it right..

You already have a reluctor ring so X that, Like I said about the paddle, you can easily grind your down a little and it will work fine and save you a few bucks. The only things you need is a set of gears (Motive, Richmond, strange and so on can be had for 180 or less. Go check summit) and a install kit (if you need it I have a source I order mine from and it only cost 23 - 24 bucks) and some new bearings is always a good idea. 8 - 9 bucks each at advance or Autozone. So your total in parts would be 180 + 24 + 27= 231.00
Edit- I forgot fluid, if you have a torsen you don't need a GM additive since you have no clutches and you will take about 1.5 quarts so figure like 16 bucks for quality fluid and your right around 250.

ill try to get that soon and tell you how it went.. i really want the extra torque.. guess i gotta get used to shifting differently again though.. too used to downshifting it into certain gears @ certain speeds.

one last question:
what is the spline count? is it a 3 series carrier? 7.5/7.65...etc..? bolts.. (is there a parts number i can ust sort of look up somewhere..and copy the specs?) my cars a 97 SS with the torsen differential..
