Re: Targa Top

For a targa top.. im not sure if that model Monte Carlo came with sunroofs or not, but if it did im pretty sure that it would be doable. Only problem is finding the part (Targa) to fit it on there.. then you'd have to cut your roof, get weather stripping and then put it back on.. shouldnt be all that hard.. only the cutting part should be the most difficult.

Re: Targa Top

Haha Rally, cutting is the simple part. You'll have to obviously custom fabricate the roof piece. Fiberglass and carbon fiber seem to be the most common methods. A good way to get a mold close is to lay a trash bag across your roof then lay the fiberglass across it and put the resin/hardener on it and do that a few layers thick after each have dried. I doubt your car will have any support for a targa top under the roof panel (I could be wrong) so I imagine you would have to fabricate a ledge on the front next to the windshield and the back where the targa top will end for it to set on. Those ledges will need a lip to put weatherstripping on so it will not leak. From there you will need a way to latch the targa top in so it won't fly off. For a Camaro, using the t-top latches is the way to go. You would probably need to make the top the size of the Camaro t-tops and take the platic and latch off of it and put it on the targa top. Then where the targa would latch, you will need to weld a bracket there for the t-top holders. From there you will need to custom make the interior trim pieces next to the windshield and from where the targa stops on back.

Hope that helps get you going in the right direction.
