I'm freaking out with my headlights

Hey there,

I am really getting crazy with my headlights. I got a 2000 GP SE and my headlights are really weak. I tried everything I can imagine, but they don't get too much light on the road. At first, if I didn't use the fog lamps, I didn't get any light on the street, so I got two Phillips Blue Vision (have really white light, no cheap crab) and aimed the mirrors. It got better, but it still looks like I am not getting any power out of them. Other cars on the freeway do have much better light, specially Hondas and BMWs, but even my Buick LeSabre gets more light output although its 5 years older. When another car comes from the opposite direction, it doesn't help to look to the right demarcation of the road, I am simply blind for a moment.

I have daytime running lights on the headlights and when the regular light is turned on, they don't get any stronger, so I suppose there must be a defect with the module which controls the output of the current at the "on" position. My fog lamps are also pretty yellowish, I suppose they don't get much current either. I had my battery and alternator checked out at Autozone and both are fine.

Do you have any suggestion? I'll be glad for any answer that could help me out.

Many thanks,

djstifft

Re: I'm freaking out with my headlights

These Gp's 97-03 are notorious for weak headlamps . If you do not want to spend a couple hundred bucks for a headlight wiring harness upgrade, try some Sylvania Silverstars. I bought mine on e-Bay and these are far brighter than anything I've tried without an upgrade. Also make sure your lens are not fogged up from moisture getting in and/or if they are sandblasted, scatches, etc.

Re: I'm freaking out with my headlights

I just put those Sylvania Silverstars in my 02 GT and they are great! My fiance drives my car at night cause she works midnights and she said they are really good. Much better than the stock bulbs. Now all I need are new bulbs for my foglights

...yes, thats why I bought the Philips Blue Vision , they are as good than Osram and Sylvania Silverstar. I think that my car has a problem with the current power output on the lamps. Do you know if there is a fuse or where the control module of the output sits? I think that the switch from daytime running light to regular light is not occuring.

Many thanks,
