transmission

I have a 1999 chevy calalier, with a bad CV joint. in order to order a replacement drive shaft. I need to be sure of if its a 3 speed automatic transmission or a four speed? Its a 2.2 litter 4 cyl.. How do I know?
Help !!!

Re: transmission

when you look at the instument panel at the indicator light that tells what gear your in if it is a 3 speed it will say P R N D 2 1 if it is a 4 speed it will say P R N D 3 2 1 and since it is a 2.2 i am guessing it is a 3 speed
