Door is stuck shut!!!!HELP!!!!!!!!!

OKay, today went to open my rear passenger side door on my 1997 sl2 saturn. The door it locked shut, when I try to unlock it(manual locks) it will only go about half way and it doesnt dissengage the lock. So it wont budge, the linkage appears to be on to the handle and the lock button. What would cause this and how in the world do I get to the mechanism???? The door is stuck shut so I cant get it apart. This must be fixable, but how????????

i have been successful many times at taking the interior door panel off with the door stuck shut. your latch has probably frozen up. there are two srews just below the door pull handle & one at the rear of the panel under a kind of flap. there is also one in the center of the handle(that opens it). once you take the one out of the handle, slide the handle forward. this will disengage it from the door. you then have to disengage the lock rods from the handle, then remove the handle. if you have power windows, remove the switch. if manual, remove the crank. after all this, pull upward on the door panel. this disengages it from the door frame. from there, you just have to basically brake the latch to get it to open, so i wouldn't do this until you have the new one. hope this helps.

I was able to get it open by taking the panel off and then was able to oil it from the inside, it wasnt easy but it did finally give and I oiled it real good and its now working like new.............We will see how long it lasts!!!
