Take the ignition module on the side of the distributor to Advance or Auto Zone and they will check it for free. As it is tripping out when it is hot take a hair dryer with you and heat it up before testing. You could try heating it up at home and if the car won't start buy a new one.
If this is good take a 12volt test light with you if it won't start touch the negative coil terminal and the light should blink as it is cranked. If it doesn't blink the pickup in the distributor is bad.

Yep,
I vote ignition module. I myself have never had the problem but many have. The module is the size of a chocolate candy bar and is mounted under the distributor (at the base). I believe it requires a special tool--maybe a torx screwdriver to remove(?) I just saw them in the auto section of a Farm 'n Fleet store last Monday (a Walmart type chain here in the Midwest). It was a Wells brand --cost over $30. Some brands are better than others.

Re: Where To Start To Stop A Stall

To install the pickup you will need a puller. I have a thexton which is specifically made for this purpose. Check if the parts store has a loaner you can use. Maybe you have a local shop who will install it for a fee. When I bought my puller it was around $25.00 check for a foreign made cheap unit at the parts store. Don.try hammering it out after you drive out the pin and remove the gear or you will damage it I tried and it started to mushroom. I used a grinder cleaned up the end and bought a puller.
