We're driving at normal speeds when all of a sudden the oil pressure gauge goes down and the engine dies. We checked the oil (it was ok) and looked everywhere for leaks (there were none). We started the engine and it ran fine for 15 minutes when the oil pressure gauge went down again and the engine quit again. Any ideas??
Thanks |

Re: Engine dies on a 94 Caprice Wagon (LT1)
Off the top of my head, without looking at the ShopKey,the oil pressure sending unit might be in the wiring for the fuel pump.No oil pressure no fuel pump.GM did alot of that, the sending unit may be bad.I would have to look for sure.Just a thought.

Re: Engine dies on a 94 Caprice Wagon (LT1)
On your '94 the oil pressure switch and sensor is at the rear of the intake, behind the EGR valve. On a '95-96 it's on the side of the engine above the oil filter mounting boss. It won't kill the engine as long as the pump relay circuit is intact. Look at the schematics, and you'll see why.

Thanks guys for all the help. Turns out it was the ICM that had gone bad. 300 miles later the car died again and now its sitting at a dealership, that replaced the harness to the ICM but the car still wont fire. The new ICM got checked and is still ok! Nobody has figured out why it wont fire....
