Question 99 Grand Am Trunk problems

99 Grand Am, my auto lock is disabled, and my key wont seem to work, wont even turn. Does anyone know any other way to get into the Trunk?? I have a system in there and i was told that maybe the bass threw the lock off center.

Re: 99 Grand Am Trunk problems

By auto lock are you talking about the keychain or the button on the drivers door?

If neither works, thiers a Maxi fuse # 2 (It controls doorlocks, trunk release,
remote lock control.)under the hood,
and a fuse in the driverside fuse box #D .

If that doesnt work, the dealer will need to fix your lock cylinder.
When my wife bought our SE the trunk wouldnt unlock with the key either,
guess they adjusted the key tubbler, works fine now.

Migth try some WD40 in the lock, maybe its rusty/jamed.

I dont think you speaker box would mess with it unless it was sliding around and hit it hard a few times

Re: 99 Grand Am Trunk problems

I can't really see the bass actually throwing the lock out of whack. Ive ran a few different setups in my 01 GASE, one of which threw out a number of 149dBs, and I've never had a problem. I would defiantly do as Xero said, could be a cheap fix or you might need to take it to the stealorship to get it adjusted. Let us know how it goes!!
