escort wont start

hi all my 97 ecort died on the freeway it cranks but it wont start it has a full tank of gas but it acts as if run out of gas Thanks for the help

i would check to make sure your timing belt is intact. The teeth will strip off of the bottom of the belt giving it the illusion that it is fine, however it is not. Have some one turn it over while you watch the belt. i would also check the fuel cutoff switch in the trunk. u could also have a bad fuel pump......the list goes on and on. start narrowing it down.

If it has never been replaced before, then you can pretty much count on the timing belt being bad... it is due.
Usually the timing covers won't allow you to see what is turning or not... just open your oil filler and look inside with a flashlight (if necessary) and watch for moving parts while the engine is cranked. If nothing is moving... you need a new belt.
