WIP - Ford GT40 P1075 restortion

Hello all

I have started this project since September and here are the progress pictures. Hope you enjoy!

Ford GT40 P1075 monoque

I would like to make the door-open version

The engine cowl

Since the original kit is only provide a half engine, it is replaced by HRM resin engine kit.

Also, the oil cap in the front is replaced by Sakatsu item

Here is the test built

Happy modelling

Mikusen

Nice work opening the door. The fuel cap looks great. The engine will add a lot to the model when finished. What's that saw type thing you used on the door cutting? I've not seen that before.

Agree, that would look awesome!

Looks like you're off to a great start.

Need to get rid of those mold lines though

Thank you for your comment
Basically, the real cowl is already seperated in the original kit but I am still thinking of the hinge for support the cowl.
Meanwhile, when refers to the construction sheet, it seems that it can be supported at 90 degree upright by the support at the end of the restrain bars.

Nice work. Just a small detail tip, those raised parts on the top, inside edge of the door, where it meets the roof, should remain with the roof. Most people get that wrong when they open a GT40 door.

Re: WIP - Ford GT40 P1075 restortion

Chapter 2:

After sanding the mould lines, the fuel cap on the left was filled up by Mori-Mori, as usual.

For the seat, you can find in reference pictures that there are a lot of holes on the seat which is designed for better ventilation for the driver.
Therefore, I have used the PE rings to fill up those holes and I have spent totally 3 hours for 260 holes.

For the chassis and the cockpit, gaps were found in between and it is necessary to fill up by using plastic strips. Also, the engine bay is a bit simple when compare to the reference pics and therefore I have expanded the engine bay by using plastic sheet again.

Stay tune

Mikusen
