2002 Pontiac Grand Am Stalling????

Recently my 2002 Grand Am had ABS light son. Dealer checked and reset indicating no faults. Then check engine light kept coming on while in operation. Dealer advised that it was a loose gas cap. Like Ive never pumped gas. Now the vehicle is stalling. I start down the road for approx. 5 miles and the vehicle will stall. The fluid and battery light will be on as well as the TRAC light. The car immediatley starts and you can drive several more miles before errors occur again. It has been serviced under warranty for the last three days, replacing the ignition switch, module, and recently catlytic converter. The vehicle continues to stall after several minutes after operating. There are no error codes and fuel system test ok. Can anybody help?

Re: 2002 Pontiac Grand Am Stalling????

Have them replace the crank position sensor. The symptoms you describe are classic CPS issues and it will usually not set a code while it is intermittant. If left this way the car will finally refuse to restart and may leave you stranded. They will probably want to replace the computer first and fight you on this one, as I have seen happen to other members, this is a relatively inexpensive part and the service techs probably will argue the point with you. But a new CPS should cure the problem.
