***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

While I am finishing up the SLR, I decided to do another one of the supercars, this time another Ferrari - 550 Maranello. This build, however, is going to incorporate some parts from other Ferraris so stay tuned.

The basic body shape, cleaned up a little, glued and pieced together... appears to be pretty accurate.

The wheels are really nice.. although probably a bit undersized.

The brakes are a combination of resin calipers, F430 Challenge rotor bases and F430 challenge crazy modeler p/e sets, slightly detailed with afermarket decals, brake lines, etc...

Here the rim with the brake

and the seats are also multi-piece F430 Challenge seats with CF backing.

The body color is Tamiya Mica Blue.

Let me know what you think.

Looking good so far. Where did you get the calipers from? Brakes look excellent.

Mike.

Looking great! Love those brakes, they really pop! It looks like you preshaded the seams on those seats, am I right?

Yep, I shot it with dark brown prior to applying the light tan.

The brake calipers are from an old ENZO resin brake set I had....I can't remember who made them. The F430 brakes seems to be more detailed then then 550 brakes, so i went with those.

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

550 was considered a supercar?! LOL

Anything ferrari is to me!

Nice start. I am not too pleased with Fujimi-my F430 Challenge chassis was all warped last night when I dry fit it. Hopefully their mistake and not on all.

Will follow.

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

Small update,

Body painted, 6 coats of Tamiya Mica Blue followed by 4 coats of Tamiya clear. Rubbed out with a polishing kit, followed by Tamiya fine polishing compount, followed by the "treatmnet" modeling wax.

Chasis on - those brakes do look real nice bare naked.

comments anyone?

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

Looks good. Is that just polish in the panel lines? Nice finish, how long do you let the clear dry before polishing?

Mike.

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

yes its just compound in the panel lines. I wait for 1 week for the paint to "gas out" before polishing.

I love that Mica Blue. I think it's one of the best Tamiya TS colors there is and you have done a great job with it

Your brakes look great!

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

Thanks, I use regular Detail Master polishing cloths from 3600 grit to 12000 fine grit, in sequence.

Re: ***WIP*** Fujimi Ferrari 550

Update time:

Interior is done. F430 challenge seats, F430 sport steering wheel, two tone interior with p/e parts (pedals, shift gate, keys, etc from Crazy Modeler.

I think the exterior color really compliments the interior and vice a versa.

what do you think?
