Electronic Brake Control Module

I've got a 2000 Malibu LS, and this morning, the ABS light came on. Car sat in the garage overnight, then when it was started, the ABS light stayed on.

Trying to figure out what might be the cause, I consulted my Hayne's manual. It states, "The Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) is located behind the inner splash shield of the left front wheel (see illustration). The photo doesn't show anything I recognize when I'm looking into the engine compartment, so it really doesn't help me figure out where the module is.

Because its supposed to be "...behind the inner splash shield of the left front wheel...", I wasted time and effort removing the plastic inner fenders, trying to locate it.

Can anybody give me a better idea of where its located, and how to get to it.

Thank you.

Re: Electronic Brake Control Module

I agree it is where they said.

Look here for a pic. Item 1. If you still can't find it I don't know what to say

Re: Electronic Brake Control Module

Thank you.

The diagram does help. It would have helped if the Hayne's manual had said it was buried underneath the battery tray.
