Unhappy 01' Jetta- Driver's Door locking, keyless entry!!!!!!

Please help! 2001 Jetta GL 4-cylinder. I am having a problem locking my driver's door, with my keyless entry. I have the master key. I tried reprogramming it...same problem. All the other doors lock except the driver's door. I can lock my driver's door from the outside...by sticking the master key in the door and manually locking. My battery needed to be replaced...at the same time I was having problems with the battery, the driver's door started not locking. I replaced the battery in my Jetta GL. I called the dealership and got the run around. I am trying to fix this issue, just would like some feedback on what the issues could be. I am sure it's something I can fix myself. The dealership wants too much $$$$ to look at it. Thank you HRstein1

sounds like you have a bad driver door latch there about 300.00 at the dealer
